Getting to Kleivstua

Kleivstua Hotell is located on the hillside above Sundvollen, facing Tyrifjorden. It is approximately 45 km from Oslo, and there are mainly two ways of getting there.

By Car

The drive from Oslo to Kleivstua is approximately 1 hour. There is plenty of parking near the hotel. You exit E16 at Sundvollen, and drive up the hill. It is a toll road, but guests of Kleivstua do not need to pay.

Our friend, Jasmine, has taken a little ride to show you the way to drive up to Kleivstua from the main road (E16), approaching from the Oslo direction.

By Bus

The closest bus stop is Sundvollen, where the 200 bus, which goes hourly from Oslo Bus Station stops. The stop is also served by buses 210, NW160, NW161, VY170 and VY175. The bus stop is at the bottom of the hill, and while it is possible to walk up to Kleivstua, it is quite far, and quite steep, so we are happy to collect anyone arriving by bus. Should many people arrive simultaneously, we will likely organise transport from the bus stop up to Kleivstua. Please fill in this form so we know how many people are taking which buses.

The 200 bus is operated by Brakar. The easiest way to buy tickets is through their app, which you can download here.

If you do choose to walk, you can follow our friends, Jacinda and Geraldine, who have made a short video to show you the path up the hill from the bus stop (they might make it look easier than it actually is!). Note that Google Maps doesn't seem to know about the path, but we can show you the route on Komoot

By Bike

Feeling fit? It is also possible to bike from Oslo, through the forest - the easiest route is to enter the forest at Lommedalen, but it's also possible by entering the forest at Sørkedalen, or somewhere around Sognsvann or Hammeren where the route will take you via Sørkedalen.

By Plane

From Oslo Gardermoen:

Gardermoen is Oslo's main airport. You can take the train into the city centre - we recommend taking a regional train from Platform 4 rather than the Airport Express (Flytoget). The regional train is about half the price and just as quick.

If you are coming to Kleivstua on the same day, you can either stay on the train beyond Oslo and get off at Sandvika, where you can pick up the 200 bus, or you can take the FB20 bus from Oslo Gardermoen to Sundvollen, although it isn't very frequent. Note that it says Sundvolden on the timetable, although it is the same place!) See the By Bus section for how to get from Sundvollen to Kleivstua.

From Oslo Torp:

If you are flying to Oslo Torp, there is a bus to Oslo Bus Terminal about 45 minutes after each flight arrives. If you arrive on the same day as you're coming to Kleivstua you can simply change to the 200 bus at Oslo Bus Terminal.
