Frequently Asked Questions
- Is there a Gift Registry?
Your presence at our wedding is all the present we need! However, we know that some really enjoy giving a present, and for those people, we have curated a short list of things that would bring us a lot of happiness.Otherwise, we also appreciate contributions to our honeymoon - destination as yet unknown!
- We would like to give you money towards your honeymoon as a wedding gift. How would we go about doing that?
The best way would be by bank transfer. Speak to us and we'll give you the details.
- What should I wear?
If you're joining for the barbcue on the Thursday you can wear anything you like, as long as you're wearing something! On the wedding day itself you should dress to impress. Men, that means a suit and tie, and Women, that means your classiest party dress. All of you, if in doubt, overdress!
- When do we have to check out?
You need to check out and pay for your room by 11am on the Saturday. There is another wedding on the Saturday, so unfortunately there isn't any room for flexibility.
- I want to give a speech. Who should I ask?
All speeches are by invite only. If you've not been asked to give a speech, we invite you to say what you want to say directly to us in person!
- Can I take photos of or film the wedding ceremony?
You're welcome to take photos, but since we have a professional photographer, we ask you to keep it to a minimum so as not to get in his way. Additionally, we do ask that you do not take any videos of the ceremony or speeches.
- Is there a free bar?
There will be welcome drinks before the dinner and wine and non alcoholic alternatives will be served with the dinner as well as a digestif afterwards. After which the bar will open where you will have to pay for your own drinks.
- How much cash do I need?
Norway is a mostly cashless society, and in fact many places do not accept cash at all, so expect to use a bank card for all of your purchases, including at the bar.
- Is there going to be an afterparty?
The bar closes at 1.30am and the venue closes at 2am. You're welcome to keep the party going in the cabins, but make sure you're prepared with all the drinks, crisps and macadamia nuts that you need.
- I've heard Norway is expensive. Should I bring alcohol with me from home?
Norway is expensive, although the Norwgian Krone is currently tanking so it might not be quite as bad as you expect. If you want to bring beer, wine or something stronger into the country, you should be aware of the lawful limits that you can bring with you. See the Norwegian Customs website for quota examples, and download the app that is linked on that page.
- What can we do on the morning of the wedding?
If you don't need the whole morning to make yourself look beautiful, we recommend a walk to Kongens Utsikt (The King's Viewpoint). You should allow at least half an hour each way for the walk and plenty of time to enjoy and take photos of the amazing view.
- I'm going to want to iron my finest clothes after unpacking. Are there irons and ironing boards available?
Irons and ironing boards will be available by asking at reception.
- Is there anything else happening related to the wedding?
We are planning some sort of picnic in a park in Oslo for the Saturday afternoon. It'll be bring your own food and drinks. It is dependent on the weather, but there are bars we could take over in the case of bad weather.
- We'll be in Oslo before/after the wedding. Any recommendations of things to do?
Vigelandsparken is defintitely worth a look. Otherwise you could take a T-bane to Holmenkollen to see the ski jump (and if you're adventurous try the zip line), go see the opera house, take a ferry to the islands in Oslo Fjord, or try one of the museums. The National Gallery curretly has an exhibtion of Mark Rothko paintings, and the Fram museum is quite fun. See Visit Oslo for more details and more ideas.
